AV XCR Ekiden Relays, Saturday 17th August 2024 – St Anne’s Winery, Myrniong
It was a successful outing for APS United at the XCR Ekiden relays on Saturday. With 4 teams entered, it was gold for the W40, W50 and M60, and a close 2nd place to our open men.
In true cross-country style, it was a muddy one, with a few slips and slides around the winery fields. There was drama for the open men, with Ben Beischer caught up by an unsuspecting herd of cows in the middle of the first relay leg that caused a brief halt to proceedings.
There were also issues when Bec Dutkowski was apparently so fast in finishing the final leg of the W40 team that the officials completely missed her, and thought the APS team was still out on course! Luckily the electronic timing saved the win.
A great day out overall, with some excellent cake to finish.
