CHAMPIONSHIPS
We encourage all our athletes to enter the Victorian Relay Championships and Victorian Track & Field Championships. Those who compete at the Championships as Open athletes earn the club points which contribute to the H. H. Hunter Memorial Shield. This is awarded to the best overall team performance at the conclusion of Victorian Track & Field Championships.
XCR COMPETITION
In winter, the club participates in two separate competitions – the Athletics Victoria XCR competition (as part of APS United) and the APS Old Collegians Cross country competition (as Old Scotch). Both these competitions provide athletes with the opportunity to compete across various distances from 3km through to half marathons. There are also a variety of events, from scratch races to relays, and even some handicap races in the APSOC competition.
The events are held across metropolitan regions, with some AV races in regional areas, with some fantastic scenic and iconic courses, over a variety of terrain from flat road races to true cross country with hills and clearing obstacles!
Both competitions offer a breadth of competition, with the APSOC races generally having smaller fields and stronger community (with incredible afternoon teas), while the AV program is generally geared towards higher performance, however there is still a wide range of abilities across the AV competitors.
Both competitions have junior and over-age components, catering for all age groups.
For further information relating to the cross country competition refer to the Competition > Winter Sports Competition tab in the menu bar.
Participants register for each competition separately, with APSOC registration giving access to the entire season (12 races) – sensational value!
Competing in more than 5 rounds of XCR we recommend purchasing the Athletics Victoria XCR Package. If you intend to compete in BOTH the XCR and AVSL seasons we recommend purchasing the Athletics Victoria Max Package
