AVSL Round 7 Results:
Another impressive winning team performance from our squads at Frankston and Meadowglen sees us maintain our place on top of our division after what our President described as a “danger round”. The track events were again a bit off-Broadway but that didn’t deter our six members of the 400 point Club, two of whom gave the 500 points target a mighty nudge.
Sam Allen’s High Jump (499 points) kicked us off nicely in the first event while at the end of the day Tom Lindeman took 498 points in his 3000m. Henry, Lachie, Lily, Heather, Ash, Elden & Hugo were the other big event scorers.
PBs went to Ash (Triple) and Henry (Javelin), but the novelty of the track events meant that those impressive times maybe shouldn’t be classified as PBs. The contribution of nearly 1500 points by Team Gumley at Meadowglen is greatly appreciated.
We welcomed Annabel Atkins for her first run in OS colours where she and Heather took control of their 1000m heat. Many thanks to Karen Moir who kindly did lap scoring duties for all our 3000m runners👏
Athlete of the Week Another tough day for the selectors, but after due consideration, the nod goes to Tom Lindeman who without his support cast of pacing partners still ran a mighty race only one second off his PB and scoring 498 points. So, this performance when added to his skill set of impressive moves on the dance floor 🕺to the beat of Peking Duck at the Zatopec sees him secure this week’s nomination of Athlete of the Week. We acknowledge that Sam Allen is a bit stiff as the slightest of touches in his high jump nudged off the bar at 1.99m. Two meters is on the menu Sam.
