Old Scotch Shines at Vic Champs Over Two Action-Packed Weekends

In response to a quick report on the Vic Champs and for completeness of overseas results for perpetuity, we happily state that Old Scotch was very well represented over the two weekends of competition, which featured every imaginable weather condition.

In total, we had 30 athletes compete in 63 events. Our Para athletes, Eloise Valentini, making her Old Scotch debut, and Tom Roach, were sensational—bagging nine medals between them in Weekend 2. Welcome, Eloise!

Weekend 1 Highlights

Gold medals: Pat Kroschel (U20 200m), Conor Sullivan (U20 Steeple), Lachie Gumley (U17 Pole Vault), and Mark Willetts (60+ 3000m).

Silver medal: Aj Merry (U20 Steeple).

Bronze medals: Gabby King (U18 400m) and Bart Leeton (U18 1500m).

• Notably, Old Scotch secured gold and silver in the same event at Vic Champs level, an impressive achievement!

Weekend 2 Highlights

James Hall dominated the U13 events, winning gold in the 400m, 800m, and 1500m.

Ed Beischer ran a huge race in the Open 1500m, securing a bronze medal in a very entertaining event.

Phoebe Grant stepped up in the U15 800m, taking home bronze.

• A huge thanks to Sienna, who helped fulfill our club obligations on a hot Saturday.

Notable PBs

Over the two weekends, there were personal bests aplenty, led by a huge 11-second improvement from Willem Van Onselen in the 1500m. Other standout PB performances came from Alex Latief, Henry Hitchen, Ollie Nunn, and Will Byrne-Jones.

Athletes Qualified for Australian Championships

At this stage, it looks like Old Scotch has a strong list of athletes who have met the criteria to represent Victoria at the Australian Championships in Perth this April. Congratulations to:

Ed Beischer, Pat Kroschel, Conor Sullivan, Aj Merry, Luke Bodel, Bart Leeton, Hugo Stubbs, Tom Lindeman, Tom Roach, Lachie Gumley, Jayden Millie, Eloise Valentini, Alex Latief, Phoebe Grant, James Hall, Peter Holland.

Additionally, John Brivulis will represent NSW.
