A Guide to the Athletics Victoria (AV) Summer Track & Field Season
Welcome to the Athletics Victoria Summer Track and Field season! This guide aims to give you as a OSAC member, a comprehensive overview of how the season operates, including both club-based and individual events.

Club-Based Season
The AV Summer Track and Field season comprises 12 rounds, known as the Athletics Victoria Shield League (AVSL). It runs from early October to late February. Athletes score points for Old Scotch Athletic Club based on their age and performance.
- How to Participate: Register with AV and sign up for events via their website by noon on the Wednesday prior to each Saturday competition.
- Events: Rounds are hosted at different venues, with each offering a unique set of track and field events.
- Objective: To accumulate as many points as possible and outscore rival clubs.

Specialist Midweek Events
In addition to AVSL, AV hosts specialist midweek evening competitions. These include:
- AV Throwers: For specialist throwers
- High Velocity Club: For sprinters, hurdlers, and jumpers
- Rare Air Club: For High Jump and Pole Vault athletes
- On Victorian Milers Club: For middle-distance runners
- Victorian Race Walking Club: For race walkers
Athletes compete individually, aiming for personal bests. No club points are involved.

Victorian Relay Championships
Old Scotch Athletic Club also competes in the Victorian Relay Championships in November. We have seen success in various age groups in recent years.
Victorian Track & Field Championships
At the end of the AVSL season, athletes can participate in the Victorian Track & Field Championships. This is an opportunity to compete against the best in your age group.
*You will be required to pay an additional fee for championship meets.
Australian Athletics Championships
This is the final event on the calendar, held in April. To qualify, athletes must either place at the State Championships or meet the Athletics Australia entry standards.

The club offers training and coaching from October to March.
